Microneedling also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or Skin Needling is a multi-functional treatment designed to enhance & improve skin complexion while working on common skin concerns from ageing through to acne scarring.
The treatment works via a device that creates tiny pin pricks into the skin using very fine, short and sterilised needles. These pin pricks create tiny microscopic punctures to the skin which activates our skins natural healing process resulting in the production of collagen which is one of the building blocks that give our skin a plump, more youthful appearance.
At Caci, the popular Microneedling service is performed using the Exceed medical device which is FDA approved as well as Medsafe listed. The Exceed Microneedling device has been medically proven to visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles, skin laxity and uneven skin texture as well as treat acne scarring. The device allows for adjustable needle speed and depth to ensure the correct part of the skin is activated based on each customer’s specific concerns. In addition, this device has the ability to create up to 900 micro channels per second!
So what does Microneedling feel like?
Microneedling might sound intimidating if you’ve never tried it before however the treatment isn’t as scary as you may think. Some describe the feeling as a thorough exfoliation – similar to an intense Microdermabrasion.
It can feel a little bit sensitive around the eye bone, nose and forehead however the treatment is performed quickly and any discomfort swiftly subsides.
How long until you will start to see results?
Most will notice their skin is plumper after just one treatment with an improvement in their skin after the first few treatments. The results continue to improve over a course of treatments and at Caci they recommend having 4-5 treatments with each treatment every 4-5 weeks to ensure maximum results.
Is there any downtime?
The recovery period is relatively short. It’s normal to see some redness and swelling after the treatment,
but this will go away on its own within a few hours. To get the most from a Microneedling treatment it is recommended to supplement with a good at home skincare regime that feeds and treats the skin.
