Sono, what? Introducing Sonophoresis

Sonophoresis is a delivery method which uses sound waves (ultrasound) to penetrate active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin where they can have the most benefit and create the most change.

The delivery system is non-invasive and suitable for almost all skin types but particularly effective in treating redness, surface capillaries and to hydrate for more healthy-looking skin.

So, how does Sonophoresis work? The sound waves work by creating a temporary break in the skin’s lipid by-layers allowing the active ingredients to penetrate and then move into the deeper layers of the skin.

What are the benefits? Sonophoresis is a great compliment to any skin treatment plan to increase the results seen due to the depth at which the actives can penetrate. In addition, the treatment can be tailored to combat specific skin concerns depending on the active ingredients which are used within the treatment.

At Caci, the Sonophoresis Skincare Infusion is tailored for maximum results with various infusions available including;

Redness Infusion- Used to decrease the appearance of redness and inflammation while also protecting against moisture loss and helping to restore the skin’s barrier.

Lightening Infusion- Used to help lighten visible pigmentation as well as even out skin tone.

Collagen Boosting Infusion- Used to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as boost collagen production.

Hyaluronic Acid Infusion- Used to significantly hydrate the skin and improve the skin’s natural moisture content at a deeper level.

So, what does the treatment feel like?

After the skin is cleansed and exfoliated, the infusion is applied which can tingle slightly due to the actives within the formula. A smooth metal wand is then used which is what emits the sound waves into the skin. This metal wand can make a slight buzzing noise but is very comfortable against the skin and is slightly warm to the touch, making it soothing winter treatment. As the metal wand is worked across the face and neck, it feels like a light massage making the entire treatment very relaxing.

Post treatment your skin may appear slightly pink for up to 24 hours however after this, you can expect your skin to glow while feeling more hydrated and smoother.

Sonophoresis is best built into your current Reformaskin Skin Health Plan to increase visible results or used before an event.

Caci offers the Sonophoresis Skincare Infusion for $120 per session or as part of their Reformaskin membership.
