How To: Curtain Bangs

Curtain bangs are continuously proving to be the biggest hair trend in 2021 as this face-framing trend can be achieved with any hair type, be it curly or straight. From a girl who’s had curtain bangs before, it looks great right after a trip to the salon but it’s important to remember that these bangs need to be maintained and styled at home.

Antonio Corral Calero, Moroccanoil Global Creative Director has shared his how-to’s on how you can keep your bangs staying up and looking gorgeous.

HOW TO CREATE TRENDY CURTAIN BANGS

Step 1 – Apply Moroccanoil Treatment on damp hair from mid-length to ends.

Step 2 – Distribute a palm-sized amount of Volumising Mousse from mid-length to ends.

Step 3 – Apply Root Boost while lifting hair away from the scalp. Gently blow-dry until hair is about 40% still wet and ready for styling.

Step 4 – I like to start from the front, drying the bangs with a medium round brush and rolling them towards the back. We round back but soften the end to create a natural bend. Once the bangs are dry, I like to pin in a large rouleaux and then focus on drying the rest of the hair.

Step 5 – There are a lot of variations of how to blow-dry hair to create the perfect blowout while keeping hair hydrated:

– For a natural look it’s best to dry the hair with a diffusor, even if you don’t have curls. The diffusor helps keep hair’s natural texture. You can follow it with a curling iron and Dry Texture Spray to create some waves and blend in the bangs with the rest of the hair. Comb it through with your fingers and separate down the middle.

– For a more polished and sophisticated look, use the same products but blow-dry hair without a diffuser. Start with the bangs, drying them with a round brush, and then pinning them to create that bouncy shape when it’s let undone. Create small subsections to blow-dry hair, brushing through with a soft round brush. Continue all the way down to the root for added volume.

Step 6 – Comb through with fingers from the front towards the back and apply Luminous Hairspray Medium to finish.
