The recent iD Dunedin Fashion Week was an outstanding success, reigniting a genuine passion to support and celebrate New Zealand designers and fashion.
Spectators flocked to enjoy the delights of Dunedin, alongside the show itself and the many support events hosted around the city.
Set on the platform of the unrivalled Dunedin Railway Station, the fashion show served up a truly memorable and unique experience where some of New Zealand’s most iconic designers and labels (Zambesi, NOM*d, Liz Mitchell, Tanya Carlson) featured their latest looks, alongside international and local collections from emerging designers which convincingly demonstrated the individuality and creativity of the next generation.
The decision to return the iD Dunedin Fashion Show to the Dunedin Railway Station was well and truly validated by overwhelmingly positive feedback from audiences. The two shows, which this year combined the ready-to-wear New Zealand fashion show with the iD International Emerging Designers Awards show, were sold out, one within just a few days.
With such a supportive team of participants and crew (23 established New Zealand designers and 25 emerging designer finalists), as well as a show audience of 2200, and models, hair, and makeup crews numbering an additional 100 people, it is startling (and cause for celebration) that waste from the event sent to landfill was just two woolsacks.
