While the festive season is a great time to spend with family and friends, it often results in endless dinners, events, and lots of last minute shopping. This can lead many of us from falling out of our usual routines and that is completely okay! We chat to founder of Superette, Rickie Dee to see how her festive season beauty routine looks like as well as her must-have skincare products, Christmas outfit picks and more!
What does your festive season beauty routine look like?
It’s such a busy time of the year, but I love it. I do really try to take time out for myself from time to time and love getting a lymphatic facial or massage when I get a moment amongst the craziness. I think taking the time to give back to myself a little makes me a better mum.
In terms of make-up I just try to keep things really light and fresh. Some of my must-have products include the La Mer Hydrating Illuminator, Pat McGrath’s Sublime Perfection Foundation and a good lippy. I’m all about trying new products and introducing exciting products into my routine but once I find something that really works for me, I’m addicted.
I’m a real believer in what you put into your body is what you get out of it. It’s a lifestyle choice as opposed to being a chore and I just get hooked on the results I get from certain products. I love The Beauty Chef, Mother Made and Vida Glow which we have at Superette. These are all products that work from the inside out – to get that glow from within.
What are some must-have skincare products for you?
Oh there’s so many. In the craziness of trying to get the kids ready and on the road to school or often shattered after a busy day in the office, I just try to keep my skincare routine as simple but as effective as possible. I am a huge fan of Ultraceuticals products as they really do give amazing results. I cleanse every morning with their Gel Cleanser, then use their Vitamin C+ Firming Serum followed by the Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser. Sometimes I switch it up and go for Sunday Riley’s Vitamin C Brightening Serum instead, I absolutely love that stuff. In the evenings I pretty much follow suit with the same cleanser but sub out the SPF for Sunday Riley’s A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum.
When I can nab a spare 10 minutes throughout the week, I also love a good sheet mask. I pop one of these on with a KNC Retinol Eye Masks from Superette in the evening with a cup of tea and the results are awesome.
What are three beauty products you keep in your purse when you are out and about?
- A lip balm is always an essential in the hand bag especially in the summer time – I’m loving our Woods Copenhagen Lip Repair balm, it’s such a goodie.
- I have always loved fragrance and have built up a bit of a collection over the years. I tend to lean towards musky, woody scents rather than anything super floral or feminine. A few that I always seem to come back to time and time again are Le Labo Santal 33, Dior Rose Kabuki, Byredo Unnamed and Ragdoll LA Ragdoll’s perfume oil in Sandalwood, Amber & Musk.
- Vidaglow Collagen – I’m a big fan of beauty from the inside out and I’m loving our new Vidaglow collagen sachet packs. They’re so handy for on-the-go and I often like to add the original flavour to my morning coffee as a multi-tasking moment to give my skin a boost.
This Christmas, are you keeping it simple or going full glam?
I like to really dress up and now that we are out of lockdown it’s all the more exciting to do so. I do enjoy a party dress moment, paired with heels and a bold lip. I’m also super comfortable pairing it back with a good piece of denim and golden gooses for those more relaxed BBQ parties.
What is your outfit pick for a Christmas dinner?Â
We have so many exciting new deliveries for the festive season. For Christmas dinner you can’t go wrong with a dress. I’m loving our new fun styles from the likes of Acler, Bec & Bridge, Manning Cartell and Shona Joy. We’re seeing lots of pop colours, beautiful bold prints and feminine shapes this season – there are so many goodies to choose from. I like to pair my outfit with statement gold jewellery and a slick bun for that easy, resort feel. Then I’ll opt for a heel or a slide to finish the look.Â
What’s something on your Christmas wish-list?
A special festive dress. We’re loving dresses in bright colours, metallics and dresses with fun cut-outs. I think we’re all so ready for parties and gatherings to resume again after lockdown.Â
Classic gold jewellery works with any outfit. There’s lots of beautiful jewellery this season – big earrings, chunky gold chains and more understated, fine jewellery.Â
An elevated sneaker. A pair of Golden Goose sneakers are always my go-to. They can be worn casually during the day as well as in the evening with a more elevated, glam dress. Always super comfortable, easy to wear and each pair is unique.
An oversized tote bag. A tote is always a go-to item to take you from place to place throughout summer – whether a picnic or barbeque – you can carry your whole life in there! Our new Ragdoll LAÂ Â x Superette collab carry all tote bags are great for this or the Anine Bing Saffron tote.
A pop of colour – Adding a bit of colour to my outfit each day is helping me get through lockdown. We love bright pops of green at Superette, and as we move into the spring/summer season, we’re seeing exciting new pop colours coming through.
